Monkey Crew’s Leader

Sevanah Kathleen was an active,

normal six-year-old girl who loved

singing, dancing her highland steps,

creating artistic masterpieces, and

writing and drawing her beloved

monkey stories. She was a creative,

imaginative little girl with an extensive

monkey stuffy collection. Each monkey

had its own personality and distinct

voice which, somehow, Sevanah always

remembered.

The first monkey in Sevanah’s Crew

was Piper. Piper and Sevanah were

inseparable and had many adventures

together.  Piper was the Monkey Crew

ring leader and has instigated many of

the Monkey Crew’s misadventures.

Sevanah spent hours conjuring up

elaborate monkey tales which she had

hoped to one day turn into Monkey

Crew Adventure Books.

On April 1, 2015 Sevanah was

diagnosed with a fatal, inoperable

brainstem tumour called D.I.P.G.

(Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma).

Sevanah and her Dad began writing

new monkey stories together shortly

after her diagnosis. After a brave

graceful fight, Sevanah passed away in

her parent’s arms September 4, 2015.

The Monkey Crew has now come to

represent so much more than just

playtime to our family. The Monkey

Crew represents strength, resiliency,

joy and hope—Hope that one day, in

the near future, we will have a cure for

D.I.P.G. so that all ‘little monkeys’ get

to grow up.

The Monkey Crew
The characters found in these stories were created and inspired by Sevanah’s extraordinary imagination. Since toddlerhood, Sevanah would use her monkeys to act out extravagant scenes in her play. She would use all of her toys to build elaborate monkey towns that took over the entire the livingroom. Sevanah incorporated everything she learned about the world around her, from geology to astronomy, to make Monkey Land a truly spectacular adventure.
